Autumn Forever

Autumn is my favorite time of the year. To feel the cool breeze kiss your cheeks as the leaves fall gracefully upon you. It's the time of year where memories are unlocked from the cupboard of your mind. I'm kind of sad autumn is almost over and winter is just around the corner. I went out and took some photos of autumn's last fallen leaves, dried out meadows, and clear blue skies.

I picked the Moody Blue's Autumn Forever Video because the lyrics represent Autumn very well.

I thought this combination of the pictures I took would make an awesome header!

I wanted to give the pictures a vintage look to match the moody blues and autumn theme.

 Lyrics

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old,
and darker days are drawing near,
the winter winds will be much colder,
now you're not here.
I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
and one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them,
now you're not here

like the sun through the trees you came to love me
like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

through autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way
you always loved this time of year
loose fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
cos you're not here

like the sun through the trees you came to love me
like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

a gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes
as if to hide a lonely tear
my life will be forever autumn
cos you're not here

Natalie Shau

I came across this visual artist a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with her art! It's haunting yet beautiful! As a digital artist I admire her creativity and hope to one day be just as good as her.
Natalie Shau uses a mixture of different art styles. She uses photography, digital art, and 3D elements. Natalie says that her inspiration comes from religious imagery, folklore, and classic horror novels.
Natalie is a very hard working artist and she still surprises me with her new artworks. She has worked with many fashion designers, magazines, and musical groups.
I really like how Natalie sticks to her style and isn't influenced by mainstream media. I also like the correlation with the dark occult classic style along with the beautiful fashion that is pictured throughout her work. It makes a very nice contrast on the eyes, especially with her color manipulations. I will admit sometimes her art can get a little too dark for me, but none the less she still is a talented artist.
I can't wait for my computer to be fixed this weekend so I can get back on track with uploading some of my own original pieces. :) Thanks for reading!

Website for the Selling Artist

Zatista! No it's not a dance routine from Zumba but it is an online marketplace that helps connects artists to buyers. Zatista is a great website that helps artist's sell their original art works by using cool and innovative key features. The features include....
Modified Search Results:
  • What type of art are you looking for?
  • What medium?
  • What style?
  • What colors?
  • Price range?
  • Canvas Size?
  • Keywords  ....and many more.
It's very neat that Zatista uses tags to categorize the artist's artworks. Doesn't matter if you're professional or beginner both level of artists are viewed non-biased by the buyer.

Another really cool feature is art explorer. This is page has you pick art works that you like and then recommends what style or art you should try exploring. The site also provides Art 101 to help artist's in their selling venture. If you're an artist and would like to sell your original artworks, or a buyer looking for original pieces to decorate with you should check out this site. Click here! ZATISTA

The calm along the fire

On October 28th I took some pictures, of a controlled fire, our community fire department had set. The house they had burned down was infested with cockroaches, fecal matter, and garbage. Bug spray just wasn't going to cut it. So the city had decided to have the house burned from outside in. It took a few hours and the men did a great job controlling the fire.

The men who work for our city's fire department are all volunteers. They do not get paid to risk their lives on the job to protect and help our community. So since I had the opportunity to take some photos, I did! Not only did I just take photos, I also picked one photo that I liked the best and did a digital painting of it. I have it being printed out on a 20X30 boxed canvas. Once it arrives in the mail I am going to donate it to the men, at the fire department, who serve our community on a regular basis. Here is what the painting looks like.
I love how among all this chaos, there is still calm. (Symbolic of chaos with the fire/firemen, symbolic of calm with the cherry tree watching them. By Mary Katlin)

What is something you have donated to your community? Have you ever done any volunteer work?

Art Water

Deviant Art is hosting Art Water's skin the bottle contest, where artists can use three different types of mediums to create the new skin (logo) for their water bottles. You can enter as many times as you want, so I thought I would give it a shot!
Here is my first entry for Art Water Skin a Bottle!
